Reading The Hand Lines - The Heart Line

Your hand changes throughout your life. The lines you see in your palm today are not quite the same as they were a year ago and probably very different from five years ago.

Although your hand gives an outline of your life, it's only a tentative outline. You have the final decision on the course your life will take. Whether you want the position or not, you're the captain of your own destiny.

Palmistry, like a doctor's examination, is strictly a diagnostic reading. It can point out the forces that operate within you, and it can point out the logical results of these forces. You can accept them as they are or begin to change them.

As with the Tarot, be very careful in your phrasing of what you see in a person's palm. Some lines may show a particular area in which your subject has very serious problems. This should be presented as "an area of possible weakness and something for which you should be particularly watchful."

On a few occasions you may encounter a particular combination of lines which indicates a premature death. If this is the case, don't blurt out what you see. Rather, emphasize the need for great care to avoid illness, accidents, violence or whatever the rest of the hand may seem to imply as possible causes. Remember, palmistry is only a diagnosis it's never a final pronouncement.

As a palmist, your attitude is of great importance. Never try to "second guess" your subject by adding on-the-spot observations and facts you know from beforehand. Only read the palm. Ideally you should know nothing whatsoever about the person you're reading. Their hands and your intuition should be enough.

THE HEART LINE

The Heart Lines (various ending positions)

The heart line governs our emotional lives and shows how we relate to others. It's the major line nearest the fingers. It runs across the palm, starting under the little finger
and usually ends in the area between the first and second finger.

Physical Heart line

If the Heart Line forms a gentle curve, starting under the little finger and ending between the first and second fingers, it's known as the Physical Heart Line.
People with Physical Heart Lines are generally able to express their feelings well. Although they suffer their share of ups and downs, they pick themselves up quickly and get on with their lives. They're likely to express their feelings in a physical, assertive manner. You could say to someone with this type of heart line:

"As your heart line ends right up under the fingers, it shows that you have an open nature and can express your innermost feelings. You're warm and affectionate. When things go wrong you manage to pick yourself up quickly."

Mental Heart Line

The other type of heart line is the Mental (or Humanitarian) Heart Line. This runs in a straight line right across the palm of the hand and does not curve at the end.

People with Mental Heart Lines find it hard to express their innermost feelings. They'll suffer in silence rather than make a scene. They'll have plenty of romantic feelings which take
precedence over common sense. They're very sensitive and need plenty of room around them. You might say to these people:

"You have a heart line that comes straight across your palm. This is known as a Mental Heart Line, and makes it rather difficult for you to express your innermost feelings.

It will gradually become easier for you, but you have to work at it. You can be sensitive at times and possibly bottle things up a bit. You like people, but you need to have room around you at the same time."

As this line governs the emotions it's common to find one with defects, as all of us have ups and downs at different times in our lives. The most common visible signs of trauma are a series of islands on the heart line.

These islands indicate a period of difficulty. Generally, the problems stem from a relationship. This makes it very easy to
determine if someone had an unhappy marriage followed by a happy one. In this case, the earlier part of the person's life (the part nearest the little finger) will have a multitude of islands, while the rest of the line will be clear.

Ending Positions

The Heart Line's end location is extremely important. Ideally, it should end between the first and second finger. This gives a balance between the ego (represented by the first finger) and the rest of humanity. People with this are realistic about their emotional life and don't have impossible expectations.

If the line ends on or directly under the first finger, the person will be idealistic and easily hurt. Other people will seldom live up to their expectations, leading to frequent
disappointments.

If the heart line ends on, or directly under the second finger, the person is inclined to be selfish and think only of themselves and their own personal gratification. They'll lack emotional involvement.

Often, you will find a heart line that forks in two directions at the end. This person has a complex emotional nature. He or she will see both sides of a situation.

The Girdle of Venus

Every so often you'll find a Girdle of Venus. This line is often made up of a series of disjointed small lines. It runs parallel to the Heart Line and is located between the Heart Line and the fingers. This indicates an extremely sensitive and highly emotional person who may be unstable and neurotic.

12 Tips on Writing Good Subject Lines That Get Your Emails Opened and Read

12 TIPS ON WRITING GOOD SUBJECT LINES THAT WILL

GET YOUR EMAILS OPENED AND READ

The subject line of an email is always the last thing people think about.  It should be the first.

When your email pops up in your recipient's in box, that person has just a few seconds to decide whether or not to read your message.  Their decision is based entirely on the effectiveness of your subject line.  A few hastily chosen words in the subject line will result in sales unnecessarily lost, potential customers missed and brand recognition wasted.

Here are 12 simple tips to greatly enhance the chance your emails will be opened and read.

1.Short is best:  Three to four words is ideal, never use more than 10 words or 50 characters.

2. Avoid Spam AlertsNever put an exclamation point in your subject line.  The exclamation point is very common in spam emails, and the search engines will interpret your email as spam if an exclamation point is in your subject line.  Other words that are interpreted as spam are:  "exclusive," "free," "hurry," "limited time."  Use a spam filter to check out how your subject line rates to minimize inadvertently including spam type words in your subject line

.

 3. WIIFM:  Always keep in mind the needs of your readers…the "What's In It for me?" mentality.  Your subject line must briefly describe the message of your email in a way that answers the reader's question:  "Will this message help me meet my needs, solve a problem, or make my life easier?"

4. Urgency:  Your subject line should contain a sense of urgency.  This will motivate the reader to act now instead of later.  Incorporating a time element into the subject line creates a sense of urgency.  For example:  "Orders received by this Friday receive a 25% discount."

5. Unique:   Make your subject line unique.  This approach presents your message as containing something new and different.  For example, "Discover why Scandinavian vitamins make you feel five years younger, "as opposed to "Scandinavian vitamins enhance your energy."

6. Specific:  Be very specific in a way that will make your readers think "now what does THAT mean?"  You could have fun with this approach.  Here is an example:  "Best time of day to ask for a raise," or "5 things not to put in your baby's diaper bag."

7.  Precise:  Provide precise information.  If you're inviting someone to a meeting, say:  "Invitation:  End-of-Year Conference, New York, Dec. 1" instead of a bland "End of Year Conference."

8. Detail:  Provide details that let the reader know what you're talking about immediately.  If your message requires a reader's response, say so…within the first one to two words.  For example, "Response needed for project approval."

 9. Tease:  A cleverly worded subject line is sure to get a reader's attention and pique their curiosity.  If you're selling eye glasses, for example, your subject line could say "You won't believe your eyes!"

 10. Test:  Test your email on a small segment of your market to evaluate the effectiveness of your subject line prior to sending out a mass email campaign.  This will give you the opportunity to adjust your subject line copy if necessary.  Many companies test the effectiveness of their emails this way:  Three days before they launch an email campaign, they'll send up to five of their best subject lines to a small segment of their mailing list.  Twenty four hours later, review the open rates and conversation rates to determine which subject lines were the most effective

11.  Name recognition:  People are more inclined to open an email from someone they know and are familiar with.  For example, if a reader subscribed to your Ezine entitled "5 Ways to Train Your Dog," your subject line might include the words "Dog Training Tips."  This will remind the reader that they did sign up for your Ezine and make them more inclined to open it instead of deleting it.

12. From Line: Incorporate name recognition into the "From" line.  Let's use the "5 Ways to Train Your Dog" example above.  Your "From" line may read:  "http:www.5waystotrainyourdog.com."  This frees up your subject line to highlight a specific tip in your email copy.

In addition to the 12 tips listed above, here are five additional ways to write effective subject lines. Bob Bly, one of the most successful copywriters out there today, suggests these five tips to boost the success of your subject line:

1.       Put a number in your subject line.  When readers see a number, it arouses their curiosity and they're more apt to open your email.  For example:  "7 Ways to Do X".

2.      Be mysterious, arouse curiosity, hint at what you're offering in your email but withhold the answer.  The recipient has to open the email to find out exactly what you're talking about.  Mr. Bly gives this example, which generated 392 orders for an eBook he wrote:  "The Easiest Product To Sell Online"

3.      Make a big promise that gets the recipient's attention.  Putting a question mark after the promise can help address the reader's inherent skepticism.  For example:  "Get paid $22,500 to write a letter?"

4.      As a question that the reader wants to answer.  For example:  "Is There a Book inside You?"

5.        Offer to reveal some secrets.  Secrets are powerful word in a headline and lost secrets are even more intriguing.  For example, "3 Lost Secrets of a Winning USP".   Also putting quotes around text in headline or subject line increases readership.

In conclusion, the best way to ensure that your emails will be opened is to provide precise, concise, thought provoking subject lines support by a message that offers a quality product, valuable information and good pricing.

How the Right Broadband Package Can Save You From High Line Rental Costs

BT's line rental increase in April this year has dealt rather a low blow to ADSL broadband users as they are now obliged to pay £15 a year more for their line rental, as well as more for calls.

This in effect means that the cost of line rental has risen to £11.75, unless you pay your bill by Direct Debit for which the charge has remained static at £10.50.

BT has introduced a paperless online billing service in their effort to contribute to the environment. Less carbon footprint and all that! It smacks a bit of cost cutting but this is to your advantage as checking your BT phone bill online prevents that £1.25 a month creeping from your pocket.

However, there is no need for you to use BT's line rental at all as there are other options.

Get a broadband package that includes line rental

There are several broadband providers offering you either totally free line rental or line rental at a lower rate.

Those broadband providers with packages offering free line rental are Tiscali broadband and Plusnet broadband, together with Orange broadband and the Post Office broadband.

The money you will save by switching to a broadband package which includes free line rental is not to be sneezed at, bearing in mind that line rental will soon cost as much as £141 a year.

There are undoubtedly far more pleasurable ways of using that £141. Just think of an air ticket abroad somewhere for the same amount!

Virgin Media is a provider that has no need of line rental at all as it uses its own cable network. This could free up the £141 saving to be used towards purchasing a broadband, phone and TV bundle as an alternative.

There is unfortunately no such thing as a free lunch since all the broadband providers offering free line rental packages stipulate that you also have to take out a home phone call package with them.

An exception here is Virgin Media, though even they demand a monthly fee for a phone package if you are interested in signing up for one of their broadband, tv and phone deals.

Get a broadband package with a lower rate line rental

Packages with cheaper line rental offered by some broadband providers could put an extra £33 a year in your pocket. That's certainly worth a good look.

There is the inevitable catch though, as with these reduced line rental offers you are obliged to also take out a home phone package with the provider. You can't take up the line rental offer with broadband only.

The budget broadband provider TalkTalk offers cheaper line rental than BT, as does the often slated Toucan, whilst slightly less expensive line rentals are also offered by Plusnet and Madasafish.

Line Marker Double Vision

Every athlete on the field loves to play the game but a group of unsung heroes sits in the shadows until the game is over.  Without the dedicated service of these men and women sports like soccer could not be played.  These skilled individuals turn grass fields into athletic fields that we all play on.  It's safe to say that many athletes takes for granted the hours of work that goes into field maintenance but there are hundreds of manufacturers who know the job is important.  New an innovative ideas come and go, some make the job easier and others are simply a waste of money.

Today we're going to talk about a product that will have you seeing double.

A tedious task it may be but without lines on the field, well, it's just a patch of grass.  While the tried and true heavy duty, gas operated line laying machines are still the most popular choice for those field maintenance folks who take care of multiple fields the smaller spray models have become very prevalent.  Here's a few reasons why they are so popular.

Spray paint liners use spray paint that is similar to that you can buy at the hardware store.  The only difference is that the paint is formulated for use on grass without causing damage to the flora or fauna.  The cans also feature special tips that are required for use in the lining machines.  so as you can imagine transporting a case of spray paint cans is much easier than carrying 5 gallons of field paint and then mixing is with water to get the right consistency.  This is the processed required when using large model liners.  Don't get me wrong if you have a lot of fields to line nothing beats the power of a gas operated liner.

Spay paint liners are small and portable and are nearly maintenance free other than a quick clean up after use.  Their operation is simple.  Shake the can of spray paint, insert into machine, pull the handle and push in a straight line.  The only skill to master is walking at the right speed to apply an even, easy to see line on the field.  That speed can be a little slow given the amount of line that needs to be laid for a standard field.

Well let me introduce a product that will put lines down faster than any other conventional spray paint line marker, the double can line marker.

It's a simple idea brought to life.  Instead of spraying one can of paint this model sprays two.  This design allows you to move along a little faster while still ensuring a solid line.  Here's the skinny...

This double can striping machine is a quality line marker for use on grass/dirt fields and is constructed of sturdy steel construction with 4 large easy rolling wheels.  Lightweight housing includes windscreen, fingertip on/off lever, storage for 8 extra cans and simple 2" to 4" line width adjustment.  Non-toxic aerosol spray goes straight downward for complete coverage.  Maintenance free, no messy clean up, won't harm grass.  Unlike other models this model sprays 2 cans of paint at one time on the line.  No more tracking back the same line.  Save time and energy.  You'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Let's have  a look...

Looks like a great idea to me.  So if you have to line fields in a hurry and need to do it with a portable machine this is most definitely the liner for you.  This liner and a huge selection of liners can be purchase at www.morleyathletic.com.

Line Voltage Thermostats—do I Need One?

When you are preparing to install a line voltage thermostat, make sure your home is compatible with this type of system, as incorrect thermostat installment can lead to fire! If a line voltage thermostat is best for you, and you aren't sure which one to choose, this page contains everything you need to know, so read on! A line voltage thermostat is a type of thermostat which is normally used with baseboard or radiant heating systems. It is uncommon for a line voltage thermostat to be for cooling, although they exist. Normally line voltage thermostats use 240 volts of power, but there are occasional older line voltage models which use 120 volts. The voltage power is connected to the heater directly through the line voltage thermostat causing it to turn on or off through thick wires. These thermostats have to carry the full current drawn by the heater. Line voltage thermostats are not to be confused with low voltage thermostats or used with gas heating systems
There are two types of line voltage thermostats: single pole and double pole. Single pole systems have two wires and cannot turn off your heating system completely. A double pole system has four wires and can shut off your system completely. The double pole units have the ability to be turned until a clicking noise can be heard, so you are assured power is off. With a single pole system you can turn the heat down significantly instead of turning off the thermostat, so to speak. While most line voltage thermostats are designed with four wires as a double pole unit, some offer the option of 2-wire or 4-wire application.
Mechanical line voltage thermostats work through bimetallic strips that bend with the rise and fall of temperature. When the bimetallic element heats up, the current will switch off your heating system, and when the element cools down, the heating system will go off. Clearly, this is not the most accurate method for temperature control, and this is where electric line voltage thermostats come in. These line voltage thermostats use thermistor sensors to do basically the same thing, but with more accuracy (thermistor coming from the words thermal and resistor). Sensing elements promise the sensing of temperatures within +/-1 degree. Try a programmable line voltage thermostat for even more added benefits!
The Line VoltPRO series is the leading choice for line voltage thermostats. With features such as precise readings within one degree of accuracy, soundproofing, on/off switching, and Honeywell's classic backlit display. Honeywell has created another family of creditable thermostats, improved just for your line voltage system. The one degree temperature setpoint offers precise, absolute control, so that your line voltage system will never be inaccurate. With soundproofing, the common clicking noise is reduced, so that only a light, quiet switching noise is heard with your Line VoltPRO. The on/off switch comes with the double pole Line Volt PRO line voltage thermostats, and allows you to disconnect your heating controls when you would prefer to save energy along with money. As with other Honeywell favorites, the Line VoltPRO is above and beyond other line voltage thermostats in its large screen with backlighting. When upgrading your line voltage thermostat, you do not have to settle for second best. Line voltage thermostats are available with several special features, and Honeywell has them all.

How to Use Your Business Line of Credit

Banks today are being pretty tight fisted with their money especially when it comes to small businesses. I recently talked to a friend of mine who is a Vice President at Bank of Nevada in Las Vegas. The topic of the current credit situation came up and I asked him how tight the lending was. He said to me the only thing that the banks really care about now is your Fico score. Even your company financials are secondary to your score. He then mentioned to me that the same principles are applying to renewals that they apply to new applications. But some old strategies can help you get your credit line renewed.

So what does your bank want to see you doing? Well for starters they want to see you using your credit line. The purpose of a bank line of credit is to cover cash shortfalls for small amounts of time. A bill you have received needs to be paid but your customer has not paid you. You draw on the line and borrow the money you need to pay the bill. Once you've been paid you pay the money back to the bank. Over the life of the credit line you repeat this process continuously. Borrow and repay is what they want to see.

Now you need to remember the golden rule about asking for money. Ask when you don't need it. Then when you do need it you already have it. Credit lines are meant to give you short term flexibility. They should be used for ongoing cash generating operations. They should not be used for projects that may or may not see a return in the future. Nor should you stretch your budget for projects that are based on future returns thinking that you can use your credit line to cover expenses.

That is a mistake many small businesses make. Say that a piece of equipment is found that they could use. Now they've done just fine without this piece of equipment in the past but for whatever reason they just have to have it. Maybe it is thought that the equipment can improve productivity or their is more use for it than there actually is. But they don't have enough money set aside to buy it and they can't finance it. So they use money from there credit line to buy it.

Well now we have a problem. If your company didn't have the money to buy the equipment outright without help how then are you supposed to pay the credit line back down. You see the second thing banks are always looking for is your ability to pay the balance down to zero. They want to know you have the ability to pay them back. And the more times you borrow on the line and then pay it down to zero the better you will look.

Now let's look at the other end of the spectrum. Your company has plenty of money and doesn't need to use the line. Use it anyway. You never know when your situation might change and if you show your bank you don't actually need the line they may not be inclined to renew it when it comes time. Remember they're in business to make money too and they only do that on money you've actually borrowed not on the fact you have a credit line.

Credit lines can be of great help or cause major problems. So don't treat it like you've just won a shopping spree because you have to pay it back.

Home Equity Line of Credit

To borrow a sum of money against your equity is popularly known as home equity line of credit. Home equity line of credit loans are a form of credit using one's home as collateral. Unlike home equity loans in which a homeowner receives a one-time lump sum of money, home equity lines of credit involve an approved credit limit that homeowners borrow money from. More and more financial lenders are offering a home equity line of credit. What is a home equity line of credit? The simplest definition is that it is a type of credit line that allows the property owner to obtain a loan using his home as collateral.

Since for most consumers homes are the largest asset they own, a home equity line of credit is used mainly for major expenditures such as home improvements and renovations, education, medical bills and others. A home equity line of credit is becoming more popular as property values climb, and consumers find out how they can manage their personal debt more efficiently.

How does a home equity line of credit work? A home equity line of credit uses the equity in your home as collateral for your loan. If you are planning to apply for a home equity line of credit, it is best to consult an expert in the field, so that you can discuss it in full detail. Lenders who offer home equity credit lines will be eager to explain every aspect to help you understand it and make the best decision.. Study thoroughly the credit agreement, as well as the terms and conditions of various plans. Take note of the annual percentage rate or APR, as well as other particulars.

If you are in need of money, Equity Line Of Credit might be a good solution to find a credit. First of all, they offer you big cash at comparatively low interest rates. But at the same time equity credit line takes your home as security. This step by the financial companies may put your home at risk. If you are unable to refinance within the specified time, you might end up losing your home. At the same time, home equity line of credit offers you easy access to money at times of need. So incase you are confused and cannot decide if home equity line of credit will benefit you in the long run, it is recommended that you consult a financial adviser before applying for a home equity line credit.

Home Equity Line Of Credit provides detailed information on Home Equity Line Of Credit, Home Equity Line Of Credit loans online, Equity Line Of Credit, California Home Equity Line Of Credit Calculator and more.

What Are the Benefits of Leased Lines?

There are a number of benefits for having your own leased lines and here we will look at a few that should benefit you.

Firstly, what is a leased line?

A leased line is a dedicated line that provides you with guaranteed bandwidth and is the most cost effective option for heavy users. An example of a leased line would be a business that has two locations, perhaps across town from each other. For this example we will say it is a car dealership. A leased line is used for these two dealerships to communicate with each other without the necessity of picking up the phone and dialling a number or having to worry about faxing documents that can be shared across the network that is created with a leased line. With higher network and internet speeds available, this means your employees can become more productive and effective.

When you have leased lines you have the ability to link Local Area Networks (LANs) and build Wide Area Networks (WANs), which is a greater option for operating in-house IP's. There are more choices in bandwidth ranging from 64kbps to 622mbps and the bandwidth is dedicated 24/7 with complete security and privacy for all data which even includes voice. Most companies that offer leased lines will also offer discounts for 2 to 5 year contracts and have support around the clock, seven days a week, in case of any problems that may arise. So make sure you take this into consideration before purchasing a leased line.

Although leased lines are being slowly overtaken by DSL and VPN technology there are still some advantages that can be found, such as the ability of leased lines to move data faster than metro-net, VPN or DSL

So how can leased lines work for you?

Leased lines require that a fixed line be connected to your building. You pay an annual rental fee only and have no connection or any other additional connectivity charges for the use of the service.

It is a 24-hour constant service with support and is dedicated to provide a structure that will ensure you are able to connect fast and directly to your host server or the Internet at all times. A separate router or hub should also be installed in the building; these will provide the gateway for access to the Internet.

When you have a leased line you have the ability to connect separate offices and buildings so that they can share data and connections. This in turn allows for better productivity and effectiveness of staff. When you have your business locations connected in this way then you have the ability to have peer to peer Voice over IP (VoIP) and even share data and other services within your servers all at no additional costs.

Businesses that are in need of communication 24 hours a day 7 days a week, that is dedicated and uninterrupted or those that wish to build and work their own comms network will find that leased lines are the perfect answer and most definitely the way forward.

On-line Marketing Success – a Beginner's Manual

On-line marketing Success – A beginner's manual

I am writing this article with the hope that thousands of people will benefit from my findings and experiences in on –line marketing.

I will not go into  very technical matters because the beginner in on-line business won't profit from it at this time.

I will be using on-line marketing and on-line business interchangeable; this is for effect, understanding, as well as for clarity.

On-line marketing is simply transaction of any business, – buy or selling through the internet. The internet is based on linking computers together in a web such that people could communicate with each other through that medium. This system has developed so much that the whole world looks like a big village.

It is possible to do innumerable things on the internet. The use of credit and debit cards has made trading on the internet very easy. I have bought and sold things on the internet many times, from very small things to very heavy items. It has been a very good experience for me. It might not be smooth always just as it is in the off-line business transaction. There are very good business persons and some bad eggs out there.

Lots of measures are being introduce daily both by webmasters, banks and governments to check the short falls of the system. The internet users range from government establishments, banks, supermarket, estate agents, advertising companies, entertainment industries, telephone companies and so on. The power of the internet is such that you can not afford to ignore it.

On-line marketing is a very big business. A person contemplating going into on-line business must know that it is a big business. Over five hundred million businesses are in existence on-line and millions will be there before I finish writing this article; so whether you are starting a work at home business, affiliate marketing and so on, it is good to know what is out there, your possibilities and your responsibilities. Many were lured into on-line business by mouth watering adverts sent to their mails, pop–ups while reading something on the internet or by some other means.

I am very interested in publishing and I bought an article through which the e-book publishing was introduced to me. I developed interest in e-publishing (electronic publishing).

After I bought the software, I published my book, soul winning – a pleasant experience. The need to market it through the same medium became very obvious. So that started my journey in on-line marketing. In the process I learnt many of the experiences I am sharing with you.

It is an enduring business. Unlike many will tell you and show off with windfall riches, on-line marketing is an enduring business. It is nothing different from any business you know. It is not a business that you just cross you legs, lay on the sun tanning chairs and then millions of money will flow to you. It is actually not a lazy person's hobby. It is work. Why? There is a market competition to beat. There is thinking and strategizing to do. If you do not do your business, you will cry home to mourn.

Vision and passion must be there. You may get into this business any way but to success, you must catch the vision. The vision is "The power of the internet". You just have to see the possibilities out there. You must see it as something you want to do. You must see that like any other thing we have come to build our lives around, the internet has an influence. Things like electricity, telephone, aero plane, cars, etc. it is a daily thing, which you can not but touch. Then there must be the passion for this business. Every successful person has a passion for the things they do; from politics to business, lecturing to journalism, medicine to engineering, you just name it.

Your Product: You must determine what area of interest you want to pursue. I have said earlier that the whole world is now like a big village, however if you do not know what you are out there to do, you will be arrested by others who know why they are there. Many people are looking for people to hijack as it were.

You can sell whatever you wish. You have to be sure though, that it will be what someone wants to buy.

You could begin by looking around, if you do not have your product already.  It could be computers, laptops, information, services, finished products or raw materials. Find out where it could be needed and what it is sold for. Your business starts when you make up your mind to start selling your product.

Affiliate marketing: – At some stage it might be useful to sell other people's products alongside yours. This brings added impetus as well and money.

It is another way of being noticed – the companies or persons you want to sell for would want to visit your site. It might be little but it is alright. You actually could be on the internet without presence. When I made efforts to go into the market, there were these fellows who promised to promote my presence, I paid subscriptions, but they did nothing. They are big guys in the trade but I was ripped off as it were. They were to send my articles to "millions of places"; it ended up in my box while they kept collecting my money. Beware of the "fat mouth" most of they are empty. Some delivery' many do not.

Promoting your on-line business:

This is the crust of the matter – no matter how hot your product is, people need to see it. On-line marketing needs lots and lots of advertising. If you are new in this business, scout around for site that could help you promote for free. Their delivery may be slow, but in your learning curve, you need to walk before you run. There are paid site to advertise, many are good but there are things to learn.

I paid money in some of them to promote and they were really faster than I could fly. I got good bills and small sales. I have more understanding of some of them now. I will not go into that now but anyone interested in knowing more could contact me – see my contact information at the end of this article.

There are networking that could help you promote you market – this also I will be ready to show you when you show interest by contacting me. There are groups that could help you – yahoo group is one of such. Here you could send mails and interact with people who will not consider your emails as spam (unsolicited emails).

A website: You will need a website at some point in you business, though you do not need one to start. Websites are not costly and there has been much development to it that it is much easier now to build a website and to manage it. I won't advise you to spend a fortune building a website when you set out. You can start with a simply one page site – it is cheap and easy to handle. You can go big if you wish. However, on-line businesses require more of promotion than in the building of the site. Nevertheless a shabby site will send customers away.

How would people pay you? You have to establish easy way for people to pay. Pay pal, alert pay, click bank are some ways to do it. It should not be a complicated process or people will get bored and go away.

Unsecured Lines of Credit

Copyright (c) 2008 Anthony Griswold

Do you have a business and need more cash flow for expansion, advertising, or to purchase inventory and equipment? Do you have personal debt you want to consolidate, need money for home improvement, or other project in your life? If you need funds, especially an amount that may fluctuate, you have probably considered an unsecured line of credit. An unsecured line of credit is different from a loan because the lender extends an amount that is usually fixed for you to use but you do not have to use it all at once and only have to make payments of the amount that you have used.

A installment loan requires payment on the dollar amount borrowed, even if you do not use all the funds that the loan was approved for. A line of credit is a good choice for people with ongoing expenses or a project that does not require all the cash upfront because you do not have to repay the loan amount until you have used the funds.

Like a loan there are two types of lines of credit, secured lines of credit and unsecured lines of credit. Secured lines of credit have better terms and interest rates but they require you to put up some of your assets including your house, car, property, or business in order to secure the line of credit. Unsecured lines of credit do not require any collateral so you do not risk your assets, but their interest rates are higher and you cannot usually get as much cash.

Credit cards can be used as an example of unsecured lines of credit, you only need to pay on the principle amount you have used and they carry higher interest rates than secured lines of credit from a lender. You can also get unsecured lines of credit from a local lender or from a national lender over the phone or internet, but expect to pay more in interest and get less cash.

The option of an unsecured loan or a secured one is one that should not be taken in a hurry. You should consider your cash needs, what assets you have, and the level of risk you are comfortable with when choosing the line of credit that is right for you. If you need a large line of credit and have plenty of assets a secured line is best for you. If you do not have or do not wish to risk your valuable assets, an unsecured line of credit is best for you.

Good Use for Unsecured Lines of Credit

Copyright (c) 2008 Anthony Griswold

Many people who need cash for renovations, additions, business expansion, or other financial needs turn to equity lines of credit or other types of secured credit lines. These types of lines of credit are popular and relatively easy to obtain, but what if you do not have any equity or assets to borrow against? If you find yourself in need of a line of credit but do not have any assets for collateral, or do not want to risk the assets you do have, and unsecured line of credit is another option for you.

An unsecured line of credit gives you the funds you need in a short timeframe just like any other line of credit. Your credit line is based on an amount determined by your credit history, repayment ability, and income and you can use all or part of it as the need arises. The major difference between an unsecured line of credit and a secured one is that you do not have to put up valuable property but will have to pay a higher interest rate.

In order to qualify for an unsecured line of credit you will have to prove that you will be able to repay up to the full amount of the credit line in monthly payments. Your lender will analyze your debt to income level, your credit score and history, your employment history, and may want proof of income and job. If you have a responsible credit history and can afford the monthly payments on the credit line you will probably qualify.

An unsecured line of credit is right for you if you need a credit line but do not have assets to use as collateral. Be careful, however, because it will take more research to find the best deal as they carry higher interest rates than secured credit lines. Talk to the banks in your city to see what the going rate of interest is locally and how much you qualify to be approved for.

National lenders will often have some of the best rates so it is always a good idea to look online for national lender rates. If you cannot find a bank willing to give you an unsecured line of credit you can usually qualify for a credit card, but using a credit card for your cash needs can be risky as many have fees and very high interest. Look into all your options so that you can get the best deal possible on your credit line.

Mill End Fly Lines - The Bargain of the Fly Fishing World

When browsing through a fishing tackle website or catalog you may well have come across 'Mill End' fly lines being sold at very low prices. Originally, these would have been short bits of fly lines left over at the end of a manufacturing run and sold off cheap as they would not be the normal 30 yards in length and might have minor defects. These mill end fly lines were often a great bargain as you could get a slightly shorter version of an expensive fly line at a fraction of the full lines cost.

Nowadays, the term 'mill end' is often used as a generic name for very low cost, unbranded fly lines that are only tested to a fairly basic quality level. There is usually no manufacturers name given and they're normally supplied loose in tied coils with no boxes or packaging.

The good thing about these mill end fly lines is that they turn out to be exactly what many people who are new to fly fishing or have a tight budget are looking for. Low cost fly lines that have been made under tight cost control with no money spent on expensive branding and packaging. Modern manufacturing means they're usually well made with few, if any, defects and they can be surprisingly good to use and cast.

Mill end fly lines do tend to be slightly shorter than full length fly lines, typically only 27 yards instead of the usual 30 yards and won't be made from the latest durable and slick materials that are used on the best fly lines. They also tend to come in a variety of colours so won't be a good choice if you're after a certain colour of high visibility fly line for example.

Mill end fly lines are an excellent choice though if you fit any of the following descriptions:

- An angler wanting a low cost fly line for casting practice in a field or park.

- A newcomer to fly fishing who just starting out.

- An angler on a budget who would like to add a low cost intermediate or sinking fly line to their tackle bag.

I've been fly fishing for over 30 years and much of the advice I've seen on mill end fly lines is along the lines of 'they're cheap, not much good and won't last long'. Well I have to say I disagree with this. I still use a sinking mill end fly line that I bought over 20 years ago. It casts well and I've caught many of my best fish on it. My son has recently started fly fishing too and his setup includes a floating mill end fly line that has surprised me at how good it is. I have to say that in my experience, as long as your expectations are not too high, then mill end fly lines truly can be the bargain of the fly fishing world.

Line by Line Editing Basics

Line by line editing is the evaluation of each sentence. This type of editing occurs after the story is written, when the plot is set and the story/article has a beginning, middle and end. Line by line editing is about language and the words used. Below you'll find an example of how I line-by-line edited. Reasoning follows.

Before line by line: I'm standing before you, a decidedly middle-aged woman, round, doughy and blinking through smudged glasses. It's six p.m. We are in a VFW Post drinking bitter coffee from Styrofoam cups. I look worried and I am. It's my turn to disclose. All eyes, expectant, are on me. I clear my throat, swallow and say, "My name is Linda . . ." I pause, unsure if I should proceed.  What will you think? That I'm a fool, a loser? I want to run, but I've come this far. Instead, I steady myself and blurt out the words, ". . . and I'm self-published."

After line by line: Before you I stand,(1) a decidedly middle-aged woman, round, doughy and blinking through smudged glasses. It's six p.m. We're(2) in a VFW Post drinking bitter coffee from Styrofoam cups. I'm worried.(3) It's my turn to disclose. All eyes, expectant, are on me. I clear my throat, swallow, then(4) say, "My name is Linda — "(5) I stop cold.(6)  What will you think? That I'm a fool, a loser? I want to run, but I've come this far. My confession tumbles out.(7)  "And I'm self-published." (8)

Reasoning:

1. In the first sentence, a decidedly middle-aged woman, follows the word you. One could assume then that you are a decidedly middle-aged woman. To correct this, I rearranged the starting prepositional phrase so that the qualifying phrase is clearly about me.

2. We are changed to We're. A conversation style sets an intimate tone.

3. I look worried and I am changed to I'm worried. First person faux pas. How can I look at myself without a mirror?

4. and changed to then. Clearer progression. Less simultaneous action.

5. "My name is Linda . . ." changed to "My name is Linda —" Ellipsis denote a trailing off, an em-dash an abrupt interruption. I made this change after I made a change in the following sentence.

6. I pause, unsure if I should proceed, changed to I stop cold.  More punch, action, decisiveness.

7. Instead, I steady myself and blurt out the words, changed to My confession tumbles out. Cleaner and crisper.

8.". . . and I'm self-published." changed to "And I'm self-published."  Ellipsis denote a trailing off and are used at the end of a line of dialogue. Misuse of punctuation.

As illustrated, every sentence can be a minefield. The above changes were made after I'd tweaked the paragraph many times. Line by line editing is subjective and I suspect no two writers or editors would make the same changes. Still, there are many common mistakes:

- Redundant nouns, pronouns, verbs, and phrases.

- Overuse of passive voice construction: was, were.

- Overuse of adverbs (ly verb), infinitives (to+verb) and present participles (ing verb)

- Cliches.

- Complicated tense as in past perfect, had to, have had to, had to have been.

- Metaphors/similes that miss the mark.

- Simultaneous action. As/While construction.

- Profanity.

- Cause and effect problems.

- Continuity issues, i.e.,  Jimmie in one place, Jimmy in another.

- Weird sentences that, quite frankly, make no sense.

Line by line editing is fine tuning that will make your writing sing.

Line by line editing is careful consideration and takes time. But there's a huge payoff: focusing on small sections of words improves writing ten-fold.

The Lateral Line in Fish, the Functions and Diseases of the Lateral Line

What is a lateral line in fish?

The lateral line is a sense organ that consists of a row of scales that most fish have along their sides, extending from their head to tail. Under these scales are a system of fluid-filled canals and specialized cells which transmit vibrations to the brain of the fish. The lateral line helps fish to detect movement and vibration in the surrounding water including predators and prey.

The lateral line or similar organs in fish such as blind cavefish (which has rows of neuromasts on their heads) are used precisely to locate food without the use of sight. Killifish can sense ripples caused by insects struggling on the surface of the water. Scientific experiments with Pollack Fish have shown that the lateral line is also used for schooling behavior.

Identification:

Lateral lines are usually visible as faint lines running lengthwise down each side, from the area around the gill covers to the area near the base of the tail. Sometimes parts of the lateral line are modified into electro-receptors (biological ability to receive and make use of electrical impulses), which are organs used to detect electrical impulses.

How the Lateral Line Works:

There are receptors in the line, called neuromasts, each consist of a group of hair cells, these cell hairs are surrounded by a protruding cupula (an organ that gives an animal a sense of balance). Neuromasts may occur singly, in small groups called pit organs, or in rows within grooves or canals, when they are referred to as the lateral line system. The lateral line system runs along the sides of the body onto the head, where it divides into three branches, two to the snout and one to the lower jaw. These neuromasts are usually at the bottom of a pit or groove in the fish, which is large enough to be visible.

Skates, rays and sharks usually have lateral-line canals, in which the neuromasts are not directly exposed to the environment, but communicate with it via canal pores. The hair cells in the lateral line are similar to the hair cells inside the others vertebrates inner ear (such as the cupula in humans where hair cells within the cupula sense rotational acceleration), indicating that the lateral line and the inner ear share a common origin. Some active fish that are constantly swimming tend to have more neuromasts in canals than on the surface, and the lateral line will be further away from pectoral fins, to reduce the noise generated by fin motion.

The lateral line system, found in many fishes, is sensitive to differences in water pressure. These differences are thought to be due to changes in depth or to the current like waves caused by approaching objects. When pressure waves cause the gelatinous caps of the neuromasts to move, bending the enclosed hairs, the frequency of the nerve impulses is either increased or decreased, depending on the direction of bending. A swimming fish sets up a pressure wave in the water that is detectable by the lateral line systems of other fishes. It also sets up a bow wave in front of itself, the pressure of which is higher than that of the wave flow along its sides. These near-field differences are registered by its own lateral line system. As the fish approaches an object, such as a rock or the glass wall of an aquarium, the pressure waves around its body are distorted, and these changes are quickly detected by the lateral line system, enabling the fish to turn or to take other actions. Because sound waves are waves of pressure, the lateral line system is also able to detect very low-frequency sounds of about 100 Hz or less.

An adaptation of the pressure-sensitive systems is seen in the modified groups of neuromasts called the Ampullae of Lorenzini (special sensing organs, forming a network of jelly-filled canals), which are found in sharks, rays and a few bony fishes. The Ampullae of Lorenzini are able to detect electrical charges, or fields, in the water. Most animals, including humans, emit a DC (Direct Current) field when in seawater. This is thought to be caused by electrical potential differences between body fluids and seawater and between different parts of the body. An AC field is also set up by muscular contractions. A wound, even a scratch, can alter these electrical fields.

Diseases of the Lateral Line:

Often the lateral line in fish (marine in particular) will get infections or degenerate from water conditions.

Vitamin deficiencies such as Vitamin C and possibly Vitamin B complex are one cause of degeneration. Proper feeding of foods high in these vitamins such as found in Spirulina Algae will help in this case.

Proper lighting is another (or lack thereof) is another parameter for a healthy lateral line in fish. Full spectrum lighting such as a combination 10,000 K or 20,000 K bulb and Actinic (UVA) bulb will help with this. The thought is that full spectrum lighting aids in the assimilation of certain vitamins, much as in humans and Vitamin D.

An un-grounded aquarium can cause electrical fields that both interfere and degenerate the lateral line in fish. You can test this by using a pocket multi-meter on AC volts with a probe in the wall ground and a probe in the water. To remedy this, you can run a wire from your tank or electrical aquarium equipment to a ground in the wall, or simply by running a wire into a nail or spike driven into the ground outside your home. If connecting directly to the tank, I recommend using a titanium probe in the aquarium.

Better Photo Tips - Lines in Your Photos

Place a pencil tip to the paper and lift it up. What do you have? You have a dot, a circle, or a starting point. Now place that pencil down and move an inch in any direction. What have you created? You have created a line. You have moved beyond the starting point, and created the basic building block of everything visual in the world. Think about it; squares, triangles, stars, rectangles all start by creating a line.

A photo tip worth remembering is: lines can be positive or negative. If you have a photo that shows a road diagonally going from the lower left corner to the upper right corner, and there it blends into a beautiful sunset . . . that's a positive line. On the other hand, if you shoot the same sunset and the road runs horizontally from left to right; that would be a negative line. Why? Because it is going side to side and NOT interacting with the main subject, therefore it distracts. It may only be briefly, but most viewers will jump back and forth between the sunset and the road, and wonder where the road is going.

Many young couples like to hold hands while taking their picture. That's fine, but if they hold hands and their hands are down at their side, it literately points away from the couple and makes people stare at their feet. On the other hand; if you have them holding hands and they bend at the elbow so their hands are closer to their face . . . that visual line actually points back to the couple. The second photo tip is: lines can reinforce your subject or distract.

One of the reasons most portrait photographers avoid hands, is because it is so easy to accidentally shoot them uncomplimentary. Imagine a young couple where the man in a friendly loving manner puts his arm around the young ladies' waist. If the fingers show up in the shot what does that do? They usually end up pointing either to the waist or the stomach. Most women really don't want you looking at their stomach or waist. It's not the viewers fault, but if you have five little lines pointing back to the belly it's very hard NOT to look in that direction.

As we have demonstrated when two lines meet they form a point. When two lines actually cross it does something different that is also hard to control. Have you ever heard the phrase X marks the spot?? If a tree branch crosses a fence or a fence crosses a road, its' almost like posting a sigh that says, "Look HERE!" If your subject is in the upper right corner and you have a visual X in the lower left corner, your mind will go back and forth. It will be extremely difficult to just concentrate on the subject. Photo tip number three: avoid the visual X at all cost, unless your subject is directly in the middle of that X.

Photo tip number four: lines convey thoughts and feelings. Horizontal lines represent rest or relaxation. Vertical lines often give a mental image of strength. Diagonal lines tend to give a feeling of movement. Curved lines are loose and flexible (usually considered sexier.) Jagged lines suggest energy or conflict. If you are trying to create a calm, peaceful scenic photograph and you have several sharp jagged lines in the image, your photo is already in conflict with itself.

To summarize these are important photo tips to remember about lines:
A) Lines can be positive or negative.
B) Lines can reinforce your subject or distract.
C) Avoid the Visual X.
D) Lines convey thoughts and feelings.

Since all shapes are formed with lines, it stands to reason that all subjects are affected by lines. It does not matter if you are taking pictures of people, trees, or cars all subjects have their own natural lines. Be aware of the lines of your subject, around your subject, and those caused by your subject. Lines can be your best friend, or your worst nightmare. Use these photo tips to your advantage and take your photographs to the next level.
